About Natures Craft:

Natures Craft was set up by Andy Noble to keep alive and share the skills and knowledge that our ancestors would have originally passed down generation to generation.  We demonstrate through hands on practical experiences how these skills and crafts, coupled with a respect for nature, can still play an important role in our modern-day lives.

We are a part-time course provider, so have a limited and changing course calendar.  Despite only running a few courses a year, every one of the courses we run are run to the highest quality and standards.

The vast majority of Natures Craft's courses are held on a private estate with over 40 acres of very peaceful ancient semi-natural woodland (asnw) set amongst over 500 acres of private estate, near to Savernake Forest in East Wiltshire right in the heart of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The woods are home to an abundance of wildlife including Roe and Muntjac deer, badgers, foxes, hares, rabbits, owls, buzzards, woodpeckers and many other wild creatures all of which can be regularly heard and seen. We will also explore the woodlands, hedgerows, ponds and pastures on the estate where a great variety of trees, plants and fungi can be found.

The courses are very relaxed, yet formal and professional, we always make sure that plenty of time is allocated for hands on experimentation and practice of newly acquired skills.

We expect 100% participation during all our courses from all our students and they will also be required at times to participate in routine tasks around the camp such as firewood collection, washing up dishes and general camp tasks.

On the whole Natures Craft's courses are run from an expedition style base camp with basic facilities only.  We are not a permanent residence in the woods and wish to leave minimal impact where possible.

There are a number of sheltered areas including over the campfire, main work area and kitchen space for preparing food and cleaning pans etc.  There is always hot water available from the kettle for washing and cleaning and there is a fully covered and well kept composting toilet.

We encourage students to join us by cooking over the fire, and we have a large grill set up at meal times for all to use.  For meals supplied by Natures Craft we can cater for most dietary requirements, just let us know when you book.

We welcome students aged 14 and upwards on most of our courses, but students under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult.

We take your safety as paramount and we aim for a minimum of a 1:5 instructor to pupil ratio on all our courses, and there is always a Wilderness First Aider on site, ensuring there is always someone to hand to offer guidance and that you are always in safe hands.
